Established in 1992, Dutch Henry Winery is owned and operated by the Chafen family. The family takes great pride in nurturing all aspects of their winery, vineyards, Olive Orchards, and Vegetable Gardens. The Chafen family has grown grapes in Napa Valley for over 28 years. The vineyards, orchards and vegetable gardens are all COCF (California Organically Certified Farm). Their son, Scott Chafen oversees the daily operations of Dutch Henry Winery.
Less Chafen is a Bay Area radiologist, specializing in nuclear medicine and breast imaging technology. Born in Texas and raised in Virginia, Less is known for his cameo weekend appearances, heavy pours, killer winery tours, and devotion to the vineyards that are the foundation of Dutch Henry wines.
Maggie Chafen is married to Less and is the arbiter of style at Dutch Henry. She owns Dottie Doolittle in San Francisco where the best dressed children take their parents to shop. A California native and Master Gardener, Maggie is responsible for Dutch Henry’s organic olive orchard and production of the wineries famous extra virgin olive oil. She also makes sure Less is dressed properly.
DR. Jennifer Chafen is married to Scott. Jennifer holds an MD from Johns Hopkins and masters in health Policy from Stanford University. When not publishing in JAMA, consulting for Start-Ups, or just saving lives, Jennifer tends the extensive vegetable gardens planted at the winery. Every season insures 10 pounds daily of something to eat. Can you say “Shuck Favas”?
Scott Chafen is the lynchpin of the winery and oversees its daily operation. Like his mother Scott is also a California native. He is the artistic energy driving the winemaking program at Dutch Henry.
